Trying to Get Pregnant

NTTGPR - Cysts

Has anyone had one?  Non-ovarian?  I think I found a cyst on my ankle about a week ago.  It is a hard lump, and it is tender to the touch. It hasn't gotten bigger, but it has gotten slightly more painful in that it now hurts without touching it.  Do these go away on their own?  I just don't want to go to a Dr. if they are going to send me home and tell me to deal with it. And I am also terrified that they are going to want to cut it out or something. Anyone had one?

Re: NTTGPR - Cysts

  • I haven't... but my BFF has had a few.  The drs waited for them to go away on their own.. When they didnt, they drained them.  After the cysts kept coming back, they had to cut them out.

This. MH had one that had to be drained. I think it came back briefly, but then went away on its own. I hope yours disappears soon!

  • My coworker gets them on his wrist....every time one shows up he has me smack him on the wrist with Stedman's Medical Dictionary.  Seriously.  It causes them to pop.  Of course I'd recommend seeing your doctor if it gets worse, they can drain it if necessary.

  • I had one in my wrist years ago and they drained it. Currently have one in my ankle, it felt like bone to me, not squishy and moveable like ones I've had before. I went to my foot doctor because it was pretty painful. I got a few options, either leave it alone and see if it goes away, surgery to cut it out or cortisone shots. At first I did nothing (I don't like shots/needles), the second appointment I got a cortisone shot which made it hurt worse the next day but then was ok and the third appointment I decided to wait it out and if it got really bad I would go back for another shot. I just cannot afford to be out of work for a week and since we are ttc I'd rather not have surgery. I'd say if it does not really bother you don't do anything but if it's painful enough, go to the doc and get a cortisone shot - it's temporary relief but it does make it feel better (in my case 2 days later).Oh a good ankle support helps too.

Ugh. That is exactly how the one in my ankle feels. :(  I will wait it out for awhile, and see if it gets worse. :(  Hopefully yours goes away!
