My LOs just moved to the toddler room at a new daycare. On the plus side, they are much more engaged and stimulated than they were in the infant room at their old daycare. On the downside, the new room has a 1 nap/day schedule. I'm not sure LOs were quite ready for that, but transition they must. The daycare has a "quiet corner" where kids can go rest or play quietly if they're feeling tired, but so far it's not going smoothly - yesterday LOs napped for all of 40 minutes.
Can anyone give me an idea of how long it took your LOs to transition to 1 nap? And on weekends, should we try to reinforce the 1 nap schedule, or do we go back to 2 naps to help them catch up on sleep?
Re: 2 to 1 nap transition at daycare?
My kids are still in the infant room, but they've been "transitioned" to one nap already. Now they take 1 nap after lunch on cots. The first 2 weeks were horrible. They would come home having napped all of 20 min.
Now it's awesome, I still can't believe they nap for 2 hours plus on that thing! On weekends, we stuck to 2 naps for a while. But over the last few weekends, they've been showing us that they want to go to their weekday schedule. So one nap it is.
The best part? Somehow in this whole transition process, they lost the need to be rocked to sleep at night. Bedtime has turned into a BREEZE.

our daycare does the 1 nap transition at 15months... all 3 of my boys were almost ready at that point... they only had one nap- but were VERY tired around 6pm for a couple months- then got used to it.
13mo is young, IMO.
