At lunch time I noticed that it stunk outside in our parking lot and smelled like burning rubber or something-- figured a local factory/warehouse had a fire and it was the same a mile down the road. THEN, it turns out that a forest fire in MN that started from a lightning strike on August 18th can now be smelled in Chicago and it only makes my air quality WORSE! I hope this smell blows away soon and that they get this fire under control!
Re: Stinky Fires in MN making IL Smell Bad!
I smell it and see it smoke like sky. I'm in a suburb of Chicago. Messing with my allergies:(
Okay, I know this makes me crazy, but I actually LOVE the smell of the fires... When I was a teenager, we moved to the desert outside of Las Vegas and every summer the fires started around August/September and we would sit on my parents back porch at night and watch the sky glow from the flames. The smell always reminded me that fall was just around the corner
That said, forest fires are VERY scary when they're out of control and I hope MN and TX see relief soon!
