Double Stroller: Graco Quattro Duo or Contours Optima

I posted this on the 2nd trimester board, but thought I would try here too!!

I have narrowed my double stroller selection to the Graco Quattro Duo or Contours Optima.  I mainly want to use my stroller for shopping, so the side by sides are really too wide for me since they don't fit too well in most aisles.  Has anyone had any experience with either that they can share?

My babies will be 15 months apart so the double stroller is going to be a must and I don't think my youngest will be old enough for the sit and stand type strollers.

I also sort of liked the City Select, but just couldn't see spending double on the stroller.  I also worried that the kid up top with kick the kid on the bottom in the head (sad I already envision that type of stuff ).

Finally, has anyone actually seen/bought a Graco Quattro Duo in the store?  Some lady was kind of enough to let me check hers out in a store while walking by, but everywhere I look only has it online only.  She told me she could only find hers online as well, but was really happy with it.

Thanks in advance for any advice/suggestion you can offer!

  • Do you wear your baby at all?  I always had DS in my Ergo when I went shopping up until he was around 12 months old and wanted to sit in the basket.  I am planning on wearing DD and either pushing DS in the stroller or putting him in the cart.  I will eventually buy a double but nothing before the baby is born.  I have a maclauren and one of the big graco travel system strollers and I prefer to shop with the maclauren and use the graco for trips to the zoo and other places where we have to take a big diaper bag.

  • I hate our Quattro duo tour...it's actually for sale on craigslist at the moment. Not sure about the other double...but the Quattro is extremely heavy and hard to maneuver when babies start packing on the pounds...it is great on paper...but just too much in real life.

  • I have heard good things about this tandem stroller. Lots of ways to figure the seats, but cheaper then the city select. It also has good CR reviews.

I would also check on CL, i got our quattro on there when we needed it for #2. This time I am getting a city mini, i didnt like the weight of the tandem, but it worked well for when i needed it and resold on CL for the same price I paid.

  • I also hated our Quattro Duo.  I agree with PP.....it's soooooo heavy and difficult to manuever.  I winded up buying the City mini Double which has issues but overall is soooooo much lighter and easier to manuever
