Trying to Get Pregnant

Letrozole instead of Clomid

Is anyone on Letrozole, or heard of someone being on Letrozole instead of Clomid, and conceiving? My doctor is putting me on this for the first cycle after my wedding in October, so we can conceive. Just wondering if anyone has heard about it.

TIA

Re: Letrozole instead of Clomid

  • yes, it can be used instead of Clomid.  Why are you going right to medication?

  • Most of the ladies call it Femara here.  I have heard of it because I was on it for my IUI.  I liked it because I did not have any side effects.

  • I have PCOS. I have been seing my RE since January, after being off BC for 8 motnhs with no period prior to starting with her. I am currently on Metformin and Prometrium to try and ovulate on my own, and induce a period when I do not. I have been on Metformin since June and have only ovulated once. We are going straight to the medication after the wedding, since we already know I do not ovulate on my own.

  • I was on it for this last medicated cycle.  I, too, liked it better than Clomid.  It was hit or miss when it came to O'ing on Clomid and I ovulated really well on the Femara.

I've been on it for 7 cycles now and have had almost no side effects. It works just as well as (if not better, as some studies suggest) than clomid. Of course, as my siggy shows, there are no guarantees.
