... She covers the basic care topics of any newborn title (feeding, sleeping, first aid), but with an emphasis on a grandparent's role. This is a graceful book that sensitively provides the latest recommendations, which are often quite different from a generation past. For instance, Stoppard is adamant that breastfeeding is best and outlines many ways to support a nursing mother. It debunks such previously widespread advice, such as adding cereal to a bottle to help a baby sleep longer, but does so in a respectful way, using side bars such as "Do You Remember?" or "What's the Latest?"
