Tell me about your DC?s first pair of shoes

So the pedi said we should go have PAC fitted for sturdy shoes since he?s walking now (he was using the pediped soft shoes). We went to Stride Rite and they fitted him, and found a few shoes we liked. Holy crap. The cheapest they had was $60! I don?t even spend that much on my own shoes half the time! Where else do they sell toddler shoes (size 5.5) that aren?t too expensive? Or is that the price I should expect to pay?

  • A Stride Rite outlet.  But I prefer DS's See Kai Run shoes to Stride Rite b/c they are not as structured but you would need a size 6 since they do not have 1/2 sizes.

  • Pedipeds now has a toddler line. There are $45 which are still spendy in my opinion. DD was in pedipeds for awhile after she started walking because I didn't really let her walk outside until she was 18 months old (she turned 1 in the winter).

  • I second the See Kai Run shoes.  It's crazy how pricey the shoes get and that's why typically we have just one, maybe two pairs of everyday shoes.  Dress up shoes we get cheap at Target.
  • I usually just get some at BRU for right now. ? I am sure I will shell out more when we get there.

  • I get DDs at the Stride Rite outlet - $20.
  • Miles' first real shoes were Stride Rite, too, but we also have an outlet. They were still $35, though.
  • We like the Robeez Tredz.  They are sturdy but less rigid than stride rite
