Anyone use and like? I read a review on Amazon and women thinks it caused thrush. Not even sure what that is (BM infection, but have to look up more info). I hate the way the medela disposables look under my tops so trying to find an alternative. Anyone have suggestions or a brand that you love?!
Re: Lilypadz
I bought some cheap cloth Lansinoh ones. They worked fine for the little bit of time I had to use them.
I don't much about the LPs but I think they're expensive for what they are as I never needed pads after the first 2 weeks.
disposables are very prone to causing thrush (yeast overgrowth infection that is then passed to LO's mouth) and some reusables with unbreathable layers can also be a breeding ground for yeast. Reusables are far superior to disposables for preventing thrush so do get some and ditch the disp! I don't know about the Lilypadz, mine are DIY by me and my stepmom.
For going out i use the disp. NUK ones, very slim and absorbent, can barely see under bra.
For home- if you are going to buy washables, make sure you have enough to change them often. To make mine go further I put a folded burp cloth in the opposite boob side while nursing to catch the leaking.
they didn't work for me (i'm pretty leaky though)
i ended up with a pool of BM under them that spilled out in a big gush..thankfully i was home ;-)
I looked at Lilypadz too, but didn't end up buying them because of the potential for thrush (a yeast infection in your nipples that can spread to baby's mouth - https://www.lalecheleague.org/faq/thrush.html) I've never had it, but it sounds very unpleasant and difficult to get rid of! Plus, I leaked a lot at first and still leak 8 weeks later, and the idea of the milk just pooling up next to my nipple didn't seem pleasant (especially if it lost suction and spilled everywhere!).
I use Nuk reusable pads at home and Lansinoh disposables for work/going out for longer periods b/c they seem to hold more. You can kinda see both under thin bras, but you'd have to *really* be looking in my opinion. And I sleep without nursing pads, but with a towel under me, at night so I can fully air dry. Leaking is no fun
