Cloth Diapering

Kawaii users...

I am looking to add a few new OS pocket diapers to our stash and I am thinking of giving a couple of the Kawaii diapers a try, with the price they seem hard to beat.  Plus I need the microfleece lining as opposed to the suedecloth that is found in a lot of pocket dipes. There are so many choices in the Kawaii OS pockets though... which ones do you prefer and why?

  • Just to throw another wrench into your plans... I have a few alva baby diapers and they are cheap and so far I quite like them! Apparently they are similar to kawaii

  • If you click the link in my signature, near the middle/bottom you'll find a Kawaii Review video which explains all the different styles they offer.

Keep in mind Kawaii DOES have suedecloth inner options for some diapers, so make sure you're ordering the fleece (or bamboo) option.

  • I don't normally post here, but thought I would since I use almost all Kawaii. I LOVE my Kawaii diapers, and actually like the microfleece better than the suedecloth. I have the heavy duty microfleece and they work wonderfully. The rise is a little higher than my other diapers which is good for me because I have tall kids, and after trying both snaps and Velcro I really prefer the Velcro which these have. I also love that they have the flap of microfleece covering the pocket opening and there is an entire space (where the Velcro goes across the front) where the pocket stops so that there is really no way you can get a leak out the top of diaper (if that makes sense). I have tried GroVia, Bum Genius, Sun Babies, and Alva baby, and Kawaii are by far my favorite.

  • I was in the same boat as you about a month ago (building my stash and thinking why not try some Kawaiis?). I didn't have any liner preference/ issues though. I bought a couple Goodnight Heavy Wetter dipes abd a square-tab pocket. The dipes ate all super-cute and I love the prints. I also was very pleased w/the site I ordered from (jackbenatural). I have to admit, though, the diapers seem cheap to me. We haven't had any major problems but I don't like them nearly as well as my more expensive diapers (Blueberry and BG4); I feel like there is a noticeable difference in quality. These are just my thoughts, though, as there's lots of Kawaii love out there. I've also been seeing lots of people rave about Sunbaby dipes on here lately.

  • pay close attention to which ones you buy.  i have some that are microfleece and others that are suedecloth.

  • I have 3 Kawaii dipes with microfleece and adore them.  They are my favorite pockets - by far.  The ones I have are "mom label" so they have microfleece - make SURE you read descriptions before ordering!

  • I recently bought an assortment of Kawaii, as I needed some pockets for Daycare.  I have been using them a bit at home and have been very happy.  They are trim and  work well for my son who is long waist-ed and a heavy wetter.  I have the OS Heavy Duty and an assortment of snap diapers.  The only ones I would not order again if I could go back are the round tab snaps.  The opening to stuff the pocket is in the front and it is really hard to keep the flap on the opening tucked inside the diaper.  The rise also seems much shorter than the other diapers and I don't think they will fit DS as long as some of the other Kawaii's we bought.  The ultra soft and square tab snaps have openings in the back and seem to be cut a bit different and fit DS well.

  • I only have one that I got free as a promo from a site - I don't love it. I'm not sure what the lining is, but the diaper itself just feels cheap and I can't seem to get the snaps quite right for my baby, but I know people love them.

  • I have a handful of the Ultra Soft and I love them. They are super soft and fit DD really well and we've had no leaks. I would say they are my favorite over BG4 and Blueberry even.

  • I've finally puzzled out that my stash is square crossover tabs in aplix. I really like them, but they don't sell them anymore (just snaps). I'd buy the heavy duty and the good night heavy wetters. Definitely make sure you get fleece if that's what you're after.

I've been using them for about 3 months and the aplix is still like new, as is the rest of the diaper. I have zero complaints. I think some people actually enjoy things less if they cost less - it's like a cheap bottle of wine.
