TTC after 35

Progesterone after IUI?

I have a blood test tomorrow for progesterone. I had my first IUI this past Friday and Saturday. What does this test signify?

Re: Progesterone after IUI?

  • Progesterone is needed to support the early stages of a pregnancy.  If your body doesn't produce enough on its own, they will give you supplements.  They will be looking for a level of 15 or above for a medicated cycle (10 or above for a non-medicated cycle).  If it is lower than that, they will probably supplement.

  • My progesterone levels were good but my RE put me on it anyway after my IUI.  I was told, if I needed it it was there to help, if I didn't need it, it wouldn't do any harm.

I had the vaginal suppositories and it was sticky and gross but otherwise not really a big deal.  I think, though, that it contibuted to major exhaustion during the 1st tri.  The bright side is that I slept really, really, really well.
