Strollers and air travel.

We're headed to the East Coast in 2 weeks and I'm undecided on taking our stroller with us.

We have one to use while we are there if we need. And we have 90 minute layovers in Detroit (same airline) both directions. Do you think it would be worthwhile to check a stroller at the gate or just stick her in a front facing carrier thing?

Would a regular size or umbrella stroller be easier?

It seems like it would be easier to take one, but DH doesn't think 90 minutes is enough time to get off the plane, wait for the stroller and get to the next plane in time.

She'll be 6 months at the time of the trip, sits well and is going in our laps.

  • I would personally just bring a carrier or wrap of some kind, but we dont use our stroller that much.

  • The stroller will be waiting for you when you get off.  Yo uwon't have to wait for it.   and I say bring it.  You're going to have her ON you the whole flight.  I like having an opportunity to get the baby off of me and I'm sure she'd like a bit of a change too.

  • I would bring it. I are you bringing her car seat? We flew when DS was about that age and I wore him in the Ergo all through the airport, but we used the stroller to carry his car seat and diaper bag. Plus a 90 minute layover can turn into two or three hours, and then it might come in handy. Plus like Jill said, then it's right there when you get off.

  • I would probably bring it. I took my ergo and used it the whole time and used the stroller to put our bags on. I like to have options too, so I was glad i had both.

    This exactly.

  • Thank you all for your feedback. I think it would be nice to give her and I a break and if it will be waiting right there when we get off the plane then I'm sold.

We don't plan on taking her carseat as we will be able to borrow all that when we get to our destination.
