*Cute lunch check-in*

With one exception, this week's lunches were all served on regular plates with a minimum of "specialty" items, just in case you were thinking that it's impossible to have a fun lunch without buying extra things. We've been really busy, so these lunches were all made very quickly, mostly using leftovers.

I did use a bento box once - our new frog container that is DD loves so much! I stack it all up and when she sits down, she loves to take apart the layers and see what she has (let's hope she has the same enthusiasm in kindergarten next year!). Leftover Chinese food (that she loved the night before but barely touched at lunch) with grape tomatoes, a very delicious "yellow honeydew" with black grapes, and a fortune cookie.

More leftovers. I was not feeling well, so this was thrown together as fast as possible. I was going for a wintry theme. Leftover pasta salad (Parmesan cheese is in the penguin container), cheese cubes, tomatoes on picks and snowflake sprinkles in the applesauce.

I raided DD's play kitchen for these mini pottery pieces, and this was probably DD's favorite meal of the week. DIY chicken salad sandwich - she scooped the salad into the bun, added some dried cranberries from the mushroom container, and ate the celery and tomatoes on the side. She likes assembling her own food (I often have her do that for breakfast, but less at lunch) and thought it was hysterical to use play bowls.

Sept. 11 lunch, even though I didn't explain the significance of that to DD. The sandwich was cut using a puzzle cookie cutter - I put peanut butter on the top of one piece so the sprinkle stars would stick. The stripes are pink Pocky. On the side are black grapes and a tomato, a Babybel cheese (I use a cookie cutter to make an impression on the cheese, then cut it with a knife) and a marshmallow star. DD really likes the puzzle shaped sandwiches.

Have a great week! Post your cute lunches, too!
