Comment about DS at story time this morning

This woman walked into story time this morning and started talking to me.  She said her son was 11 months and I said mine was 13 months.  I asked her if he was walking yet and she yes.  I said mine wasn't yet.  She said "well kids with big heads tend to walk later because I guess it weighs them down or something".  What??  I was kind of taken aback considering she was implying that my son had a huge head that was weighing him down and I suppose her son with his normal sized head was able to walk around carefree without that weight on his neck.  FTR, my DS has a perfectly normal sized head :).

    She's full of crap.

My kid has a giant dome and he was walking just fine at 13 months. Wink

That is a really stupid thing to say to someone, people can be so.... awkward.

Yes, it was awkward!  I had just met her!  I got kind of silent when she said that, just contemplating what she had said.  So then it was even more awkward, lol.

  • A) Jackson's head is in the 98th % and he was walking at 10 months

    B) WTF?  Has she never interacted socially before, in her life?

  • I wouldn't have thought 2X about that comment, but my giant headed boy chose not to walk until 17 months.
  • Full of wierd!

DS is 15 months and just learned top walk...grant it his head is WAY up in percentile while his body is not.  I just don't think the two are related. LOL

She did seem to be a little "off".  She seemed to come on way too strong for having just met me.

ETA: Ok, this makes it sound like she was hitting on me.  I don't think she was :)

  • This reminds me of a stranger that told me that my infant had tiny "elfish" features. Um, hello, not a compliment, lady.

  • I can never think if stuff like this quick enough but you should have said something to her like "did you just learn to walk then?"
