Evap line on a HPT

I've never been one to POAS.  I prefer to wait it out.  Anyway, I was reading Jennasita's posts and am curious what's an evap line?  Is it just a line that appears when the urine starts to evaporate?  I imagine that's why youre instructed to read it within a specified period of time.  Does it look the same as a "positive" line - - is that why people get confused?

Anyway, I'm still not planning to POAS - - "neg" upsets me more than when AF comes - - but I 'm just curious.

BTW....GL Jennasita - - - hope it works out for you!

Re: Evap line on a HPT

  • Basically, the urine has to spread across the whole field to trigger the control line, and sometimes it can make it look like there is also a very very faint line where the positive line would be.  I don't know how common it really is, but I've been told it's more common with tests that use blue dye than the ones that use pink dye like FR.

    How are you feeling?

Nervous, with occasional little bits of hope creeping in that I try to squash until I have my next beta and u/s on Thursday.  No symptoms yet, at all.  But people keep telling me that most of them didn't get symptoms until 6-8 weeks, so I'm trying to not read anything into that.  I actually poas'd again yesterday, just to see if it would still say the word.  Stupid, I know!

I understand how you feel - - I was the same way.  I, too, had a total lack of any symptoms whatsoever.  And it made me so anxious.  I was constantly in the bathroom 'wiping' and holding my breath for signs of blood [TMI, I know, I'm sorry about that!].  But then the nausea set in.  And the exhaustion.  And the HB!  And it all started to feel real!  Don't get me wrong, I was still nervous, but it got easier to really believe that wow - this is real!  Very best of luck to you for a happy, healthy and uneventful 9 months!  GL Thurs!

  • ELF's right. There's probably not an evap line on pink dye tests.

My problem is that I don't want to be disappointed. I want a positive, plain as day, super bright line, or the word "Pregnant." That's why I brought up the evap line. If it's an evap line, then I don't have to get real.
