Paint color for the ceiling

Hi,

I'm wondering if someone can recommend a white Behr paint color for the ceiling.  Whites come in so many shades with so many undertones and I don't have the time to sample or test out different shades of white.  Any recommendations for a white that's not "ultra" white with no major undertones (or if any undertone, a gray undertone)?

 THANKS!  :)

Re: Paint color for the ceiling

  • I went to Sherwin Williams to get my paint and they actually had a separate color thing for ceilings. I actually ended up with a color that's called Ceiling Bright White. It has just the slightest blue tint to it that you can hardly notice. I was told that if you get a white with just the smallest blue it in it'll make the room seem brighter. And more offwhite whites will make the room dimmer and smaller looking. For a gray undertone the best thing to do it go to where ever you buy paint and look at samples. Good luck!

  • Behr actually carries "ceiling paint" that's a nice white and does a great job covering. DH just used it in our bedroom and it only took one coat! The previous people painted the ceiling (and the whole room trim and all) a dark tan (yuck!). I agree there's so many different whites...that's why we took the easier road and just grabbed the ceiling paint that we didn't have to pick anything to mix with.
