Nice maternity clothes

Today was the first time I went shopping for maternity clothing. I went to Gap and bought a pair of trousers and a shirt. They didn't have much choice - 3 or 4 styles for trousers. So I thought I'll stop by at the Motherhood Maternity store. The clothing was cheaper but terrible quality. The jean fabric didn't even seem like jeans, rather some stretchy material that's dark blue. I ended up going to H&M and buying some longer shirts and a baggy sweater. I guess it really depends on where you live, but where are you shopping for good maternity clothing? I'm in Boston.

  • I'm in MD and found great finds at Maternity Motherhood and Gap maternity. You may want to try MM online if your local store doesn't have a good selection.

  • If you're willing to spend a little more, Olian, Maternal America and Japanese Weekend all have higher quality stuff (at predictably higher prices!). It's easiest to find online. And if you really want to invest (in absolutely beautiful stuff), Isabella & Oliver is totally gorgeous, but super spendy (look at their website)... like you might want to have 10 kids to make it worth the investment. Pea in the Pod, which you can find at the mall, is also higher end but again, expensive Sad

  • I also didn't like the selection at MM, and they had nothing at Kohls or Old Navy. We went to a local mall and I really lucked out at JC Penney. I think the company was called Duo Maternity, so comfortable and lots of styles and colors. When we went everything was also on sale so I got a lot of clothes at half price.

  • Thanks, this is really helpful. I better spend a $100 on pants that I like than buying something I hate and end up buying something else later.

  • I know how you feel.  I can't stand wearing cheap material and would rather pay more money for something I will be comfortable in (as this is a time that I will be very uncomfortable as is.)  I just ordered a dress from ASOS.com.  I just got it and the fabric quality is really nice.  I think I will have to send it back for another size (the sizes there run small) but as for quality I thought they were good.  The Loft, I heard has good stuff, but I think that is also online only.

I tried Loft for DS. They have cute styling but unfortunately I could never get a single pair of pants to fit. I hope they've improved.

Look for the Olian Vertigo pants. They are dreamy, and less than $100 a pair. I had black and gray with DS and wore them constantly.

Love the stuff at ASOS - I am going to have to try some. Thanks for the tip on sizing.
