So I went for my monthly appointment on Friday. I didn't see my normal dr., she was away. The doctor found a heartbeat but couldn't distinguish what he was hearing on the doppler becaue of the 2 heartbeats. He said with twins it is too hard to distinguish sepearte heartbeats with the doppler but, he is sure they are fine. I am just concerned because I didn't get to hear the heartbeats at my appointment. What typically happened at your appointments at 19 weeks??
Re: Doppler at monthly appointment
does their office have an US? Whenever my Ob had trouble finding both they'd give me a quick US. My male OB almost always found both easily- he's beend doing it for 25+yrs... the newer doc usually had a harder time and almost always did an US just to check.
Same here. My doctor never let me go home until they found two distinguishable heartbeats or saw both babies on u/s.
Went exclusively to an MFM. Never had a doppler. Always u/s - until I started NSTs and 2 monitors were strapped to my belly.

Thank you! That is what I have been thinking all weekend. I am not sure if I want to call their office tomorrow and explain my situation. It is just hanging heavy on me not being able to hear both heartbeats and my next appointment isn't until Oct. 21st. I have to see 3 dr.s in the practice and this guy did not do an u/s. The other two usually just do the u/s because of the doppler being hard to find the heartbeats.
Do you think it is pushy if I call their office???

This was us as well.
We've had an u/s at every appointment to check heartbeats. My OB said he prefers that method so that we get the guarantee that we've got separate heart rates. One more thing-- I had a day where I was super nervous about the babies for no particular reason and I just wanted a quick heartbeat check. I called my OB's office and they said they wouldn't charge me or my insurance company for a quick "peace of mind" heartbeat check via the u/s machine. I was in their office within an hour of calling and they had a physician's assistant do a quick heartbeat check. Then I felt so much better If I were you, I'd call in the morning and ask if you could go back in for a heartbeat check. Good luck!

Ditto this! My OB has lots of twin experience and found both heartbeats every time, but would always do an quick US to see positioning too.
