how would you use left over steak?

I've got some cooked steaks left over from a grill night. The only thing I can think of so far is tacos. I love tacos, but I was wondering if anyone might have some other ideas.

  • Definitely a salad!  One of my favourite meals.

Lettuce, tomatoes, green onions, avocado, kalamata olives, cheese (either feta or crumbled blue cheese) and sliced steak on top.   For dressing I like to make one with oil, lemon juice and seasoning salt.  But any vinaigrette would be good!

  • salad. unless you want to get complicated, and then you could channel your inner Italian (or pretend you have an inner Italian, like I do) and cook it down into a ragu and have meaty pasta sauce - just cube it up and cook it in red wine and a teeny bit of garlic (it's seasoned from the grill already) until it starts to fall apart and then add tomatoes (canned, or crushed fresh) and cook it until it's a consistency you like. Serve over pasta and have a side salad.

  • Philly cheese steak wraps...

Put some vegetable oil in a pan and saute some sliced onions and green pepper for 5-7 min.  Take the leftover steak and cut it into thin strips.  Add to the pan to heat through.  Put some of the steak/onion/green pepper mix into a tortilla and add some mozzarella cheese.  Wrap up and place in pan seam side down.  Heat on med-high heat for 2-3 min until hot and tortilla is lightly browned.

  • I usually use it in stirfry or add it to pasta salad. I'm one of those odd people who doesn't like meat in their lettuce salads.

  • Cube it, warm it, and serve it over rice
  • I often use mine in stir-fry and I just recently cubed it and put it in a soup as well.

Question: how would you use it in taco's?  Aren't taco's made of ground beef?

  • I would do either salad, chopped with cilantro and onion and seasonings on soft corn tortillas (authentic-style tacos) or serve it again with a different starch, depending on the quantity.
