2.5 yr old nap question

How long would you leave him in the crib awake and singing before getting him up?  He's been in there for over an hour and not asleep yet - totally unusual for him.  He's not ready to give up naps, I just think I gave him too much sugar at lunch maybe?  lol

Anyway - I don't really want him sleeping late to go to bed late tonight, but I also don't want him crabby later.  WWYD??

Re: 2.5 yr old nap question

  • I think if DS did that, and it had been an hour, I would get him up, and then try an early bedtime tonight.

  • I'd leave him another 10 minutes and then go for the early bedtime.

  • I got mine up after about an hour of singing and jumping yesterday.
  • I'd let him up after an hour and just do early bedtime.  DS3 started doing that before he even turned 2, and it's so frustrating.  He now refuses to take a nap at all, unless he falls asleep while we're driving in the middle of the day.  And if that happens, I have to make sure not to let him sleep longer than about 30 minutes, or he causes trouble at bedtime.  It's tough to get just the right balance, and a lot of the time we just deal with him being grumpy and put him to bed early.
