Xrays

I feel like a 1st timer asking this but....I jammed my pinky toe into the door frame yesterday, toe is fine, but the side of my foot is sore...I'm hoping it's just a sprain and I'm gonna see how it feels after a day or so...anyway my question....I know there must be a way, but if it still hurts and I need an x ray, how do they protect baby? Didnt have this problem with DS, so I'm just wondering. I am going to avoid it if I can, but just in case.

Re: Xrays

  • It's usually best if they don't take an xray, especially since if it is broke they wouldn't do anything but buddy tape your toes (tape your pinky toe to your 4th toe). And in all reality I wouldn't take the risk for a broken toe.

But usually they have a mock you wear that will protect you from xray's. I still wouldn't take the chance though. Especially because there isn't a treatment for it.

  • I had to have dental Xrays done 3 weeks ago. They put two of the huge smock things on me and said that xray technology is not has high powered as it used to be and there is not as much "spray off" that would effect the baby. Like pp said I would wait for a toe. Give it a couple of weeks and alot of ice. I hadn't been to the dentist in years and had 5 cavities that hurt like a b****. If in doubt call your OB. GL hope the toe feels better.
