**KMac570** and Italy field trip! (NTTGPR)

YGPM! Let's be traveling buddies!

And to everyone else, how about a Bump field trip to Italy? I saw on the 2WW that a lot of us want to go there. I'll pack my bags! Who has been to Italy or wants to go? DH and I cruised the Western Mediterranean this summer and visited Rome, Cinque Terre, Naples and Taormina. We'd love to go back to Cinque Terre and Taormina and also visit Florence and Venice. What about you?

  • Oooh, that sounds wonderful!  I've never been to Europe!  Well, I've never traveled there for pleasure...I lived in Germany for a couple of years as a child.  I wouldn't mind going to Greece either.  My MIL has been and talks about how gorgeous it was.  Also, she went to Italy earlier this year and loved it!  I'd go for either! :D

  • I would LOVE to go back!  :)  We did Venice, Cinque Terre, Florence and Rome last time - my favorite was Cinque Terre, with Venice coming in a close second (they are so different, it is hard to compare them).  We didn't make it to Naples, but I really wanted to!  How did you find it ChloBub?  Is the pizza really the best there?  :)

Lanejam, I have always wanted to visit Germany!  Ever since studying poli sci actually...I loved the idea so much that I minored in German in undergrad so that I could speak the language when I got there lol (I've lost it now from dis-use unfortunately).  It is definitely on my list!  How long did you live there?

Greece is also high on my list- not sure when we will make it there, but I definitely want to see it.  I have a few friends who have been, and they have nothing but great things to say about it, especially the islands!  Supposedly Athens is overrated, but I find that extremely hard to believe!  lol

Wow this is really making me want to travel again - that is one of the only downsides for us with TTC, travel has to be put off for a while.  We had only really started to do it recently too.  Totally worth it of course :)

  • I lived there for about 2 years, when I was 5-6 years old.  I remember bits and pieces.  I'd love to revisit the area where I lived, someday.  Definitely would bring back some memories.  I think that not being able to travel (as much/as easily)  was definitely one of our biggest hesitations.  Especially for DH.  As much as I'd like to travel though, I'm pretty sure I'd like a baby more! ;)

Yep, the pizza was delicious, but more amazing were Mt. Vesuvius and Pompeii.  You really can't believe Pompeii until you see it.

  • We did a day trip to Pompeii from Rome - I agree that it was amazing!  I think we took 8 gigs of photos that day alone!  I had wanted to see Pompeii since I saw a documentary on it as a child, it was on my bucket list. It was pretty unreal.  :)  I heard that Naples houses a museum that contains most of the relics from Pompeii - that was one of the main reasons we wanted to make it there.  Did you see it?

Where else is on your list?  :)
