Anyone else watch this show? Can someone please explain to me why these mother's allow the dance coach to speak to the children this way?! I'm appalled and yet can't stop watching......yikes!

I'll love you forever Baby Speck
I was disgusted when Mackenzie felt so bad it looked like she was going to be sick, and Abby told her to "suck it up." She's 8! And then her mother told her to stop crying, and no, she couldn't go home because she 'never missed dance.' IMO, they're setting these children up for failure, not success. And that board she's got where all those pictures are, and the kids are 'rated' ... disgusting. You're supposed to build up children's self esteems, and that does nothing but beat them down. If they're on the bottom, they were awful, and if they were on the top, they better keep on trucking or else someone's going to over take them.
And when Abby was saying that Chloe isn't on the top because Mackenzie is there til 11 pm practicing? That's later than I normally stay up. I can't imagine being 8 years old, going to school and then dancing longer than I was at school for. When the mom's said that dance came before school, it made me sick. What the heck are they teaching they're children?
But yes, the kids seemed more mature than the parents. Like that woman that came in screaming and yelling and Abby called the cops? WTH. They're KIDS. Yes, I understand she's supposed to be a fantastic coach. But PLEASE. Let them be children.
um i love this show. Chole's mom kristy is the worst with her constant immaturity, wine drinking, and complaining about another 8 year old and Kathy lives vicariously through her awkward 6year old who clearly doesnt even LIKE dance.
I think Abby can be harsh but the parents are the ones pushing... so I mean ... whatevs. Either way I'm obssessed.
Go Maddie!
Agreed. This isn't a tap class at the rec center. This is a dance career. Why do you think that one mom who OWNS a dance studio sends her kid, Vivi, to dance at Abby Lee? Because Abby has the reputation for producing dancers. The moms allow their girls to be "put through" it for the titles and their future in dance. I'm sure we see a lot of the drama crap, but behind the scenes, I would imagine that these moms and daughters (and the rest of their families) have had serious discussions about what the daughter wants from her dance career. These girls are aspiring professional athletes who don't go pro from "dabbling" in dance classes - they learn techniques of all types of dance and train from the time they are young.
Also, Melissa doesn't hate Abby that much if she works at the studio: https://www.abbyleedancecompany.com/rdp/faculty.htm

I am a dance teacher and dance judge. This type of behavior is common in many studios across the country and not just PA. Altough I do not act like Abby Lee, I do sometimes think about saying things to the mothers like she does. But I can not or I would loose my job.
The mothers are not completely out of line they are paying thousands of dollars a year and they want whats best for their children.
Yes, they are paying lots of money, but I don't think that gives them the right to dictate how Abby does her job. If they don't like the way she treats their kids, then they can go to another dance studio.
Did anyone watch last night? I thought it was totally uncalled for when one of the moms told Abby something along the lines of "You wouldn't understand this because you're not a mother..."
While I get the fact that there are things that I simply won't fully understand until I become a mom, I have to say I hate when people say this. I think in most cases whatever you had to say can just be said without the "you wouldn't understand because..." preface.
