I'm really bored right now, so I'll ask for your opinion...
I have a little girls cheer outfit for our state's football team up on Craigslist. I got an email asking if I would ship it if they sent me a check for the amount including shipping. Now, I'm not completely naive, I know to watch out for craigslist spam. But the email was very personal, it wasn't the typical spam that you'd see asking to cash a check for over the amount or anything weird like that. I haven't had any other inquiries about the outfit, so I was thinking that I'd offer to ship it if they paid via Paypal. That way I can't get screwed over, right? It'd be about $13 with shipping.
I don't know, I like to think that people are generally nice, but like I said, I'm not completely stupid either. So what would you do?
Re: wwyd: ship item for Craigslist?
They only way I would except payment like that is by paypal.

That's kinda what I was thinking, so I did check Ebay and there aren't any of these in this size... I figured Paypal would be the safe way to go. If I don't get any replies locally by the end of the weekend maybe I'll do that...
I think if you accept payment via PayPal, you're fine... once it's credited to your account go ahead and ship the item.
Honestly, I don't think it's that weird - you said it was for a state football team... it's likely a "fan" who has moved out of the area and wants it for their child. I'm in CA now, but if I wanted something very specific for DH's teams, I might check the Philadelphia craigslist pages (and then need it shipped). It sounds like a pretty harmless transaction, and we're only talking $13 here... I'd go for it.
