call dr or not

DS has bug bites on his face/forehead/near ears that have swelled up and are now enormous. His eyes are swollen, he looks like he's been in a fight.

He's miserable... and uncomfortable b/c he keeps rubbing and scratching the areas.

I tried having him put some ice on the worse areas, but he won't keep it on too long. I haven't given children's benadryl yet, bc now I'm wondering should I do a Dr visit since its all over his face or just try meds first?

Note:: I've never given my kids benadryl

Re: call dr or not

  • I am 99% positive your pedi will tell you to give benadryl.  It is the best for allergic reactions and works fast.  Call and get the dosage.

Yup, I agree to call and ask about the benadryl. It works wonders on reactions like that. My son gets welts from bug bites and that's our go-to.
