I am fed up with leaks. I have a super soaker toddler, but I am so fed up with all the wardrobe changes. The diapers aren't repelling, they are soaked to the brim even though I'm changing her every two hours on the dot. We have a mixture of dipes- bG3.0/4.0, more pockets, AIOs, prefolds (which last less than an hour)! EVERY diaper, except my AIO are double stuffed (microfiber). Our night time is bG 3.0 microfiber plus hemp doubler.... leaks, but I'm thinking this one is more of a fit issue (she's also a tummy sleeper).
I'm looking ino wool for night time, but we're on a serious budget. My husband gets leaks, too, so I'm assuming it's not user error. I'm tired of 1 am leaks, where she is super saturated, and having to change her clothes every time I change her diaper. Please help!!

Well.....Wool is very amazing and well worth it! It never ceases to amaze me how saturated the diaper is in the morning and how dry the wool is.
We use sbish longies at night, but I've also used woollybottoms and they work well, too. Woollybottoms are also not to bad for price ($20 for a soaker).
Are you double stuffing with hemp or microfiber? There's no way one hemp insert with microfiber would hold my son overnight, and he's not a particularly heavy wetter. Last night I used a microfiber insert and 2 Zorb II snake inserts in a fleece diaper and he was still a bit damp this morning. Prefolds...unless I double them I don't even bother. One pee soaks them at this age. Are you using hemp or bamboo in every diaper? If every diaper is soaked, you clearly need to add more absorbancy, regardless of what is recommended for the diapers from the manufacturers.
You can use fleece in place of wool, but you have to wash after each use. I bought some cheap fleece pants at a garage sale and they work really well. Fleece diapers (like Drybees) are great, too.
Good luck, I know leaks can be really frustrating!

I would invest in some hemp inserts, not just doublers. (we love our babykicks) They are more absorbant than MF and super trim, so even if you have to double up it won't be super huge!
As for overnnight, I would defintely look into wool. It's expensive upfront, but you don't need a ton of it. We rotate between 2 soakers and it works great! Paired with a fitted it's bullet proof at our house for 12+ hours!

at night we do bG microfiber plus babykicks hemp inserts (the ones that look like two). Any more stuffing and I'm pretty sure the fit will be compromised?
We have SBish snapless with 3 inserts for overnights (with PUL, we're not wool people) - and it's been bullet proof so far. I'm loving BSRBs during the day, and I just found another brand that I can't wait to try (they're on their way now!!) called Green Humbug.
Essentially, we're switching to 100% bamboo fibers.

Definitely knit your own if you can. I like the Sheepy Pants pattern, but there are lots of good ones out there.
Can you sew? Soakers are really easy to make from old wool sweaters (from Goodwill or wherever). Katrina's Soaker pattern is a great one, and it's free.

Ditto that. My LO is also a super soaker and she sleeps in crazy positions. Fitteds with wool are the only thing that works overnight for us. We have 4 fitted diapers and one wool soaker. I wash diapers every other day and let the soaker dry out during the day. I did, however, just make a pair of longies from a sweater that I have yet to put on LO.
Ditto others on wool. DD was a heavy wetter, too, and would leak out of a double stuffed (microfiber + hemp) pocket in 2 hrs or less. Fitteds under wool... three hours or more, no leaks. Prefolds could go up to two hours or so, although I usually change prefolds more often than that anyway. And no issues overnight, either, even when she took a cup of water to bed and her diaper weighed more than she did in the morning.
I sew almost all of my own wool and it works great. It's super cute under dresses, too.
