What's wrong with DS?

DS has been acting really strange since yesterday, and I have no clue what's happening. DS is always a happy baby, if he needs something, he's hungry, wet, sleepy, etc. he fuzzes a little but has never been a crier. Now, every time I put him in his bouncy seat he cries, not the mad cry but the oh so sad and pitiful cry. I put him down on his changing table to change his dipe, he cries that so super sad cry again (diaper change is one time he knows we play and he always laughs). It seems like all he wants to do is be in my arms, or me talking to him, singing to him, playing with him... I have not been able to get anything done the past two days because of this ( I fixed dinner tonight because I had him in a ring sling!). I know it's nothing serious but it makes me sad to see him cry like that. Has your LO gone through something similar?

  • I could have written the same post!  I have been chalking it up to the four month growth spurt / wakeful period.  She's been less "talkative" and giggly and just more clingy to me.  Every night DH feeds her a bottle at bedtime, but tonight for the first time ever, she wouldn't take it...I had to nurse her.

  • Caitlin had a similar experience. For a period, I couldn't put her down unless she was passed out and slept through the transition, and no one besides myself and DH could hold her (she's a very social, very happy baby so this was unusual). I would say her clingy-ness lasted 2-3 weeks. Just give him some extra lovin and get your money's worth outta that sling!

This. Elliott did the same thing, it lasted about 2 weeks or so. It sounds like an awful long time to deal with it, but hopefully your LO goes through it quicker than ours.

  • I know it seems early, but don't forget teething. It takes a while for the teeth to cut, but they move in the gums already and it is painful. We are dealing with it now, it was AWFUL... she is now asleep in my arms and even rolled from back to tummy today. It is crazy how a little pain reliever will help, since DD can't grasp and stick things in her mouth yet like, say, an iced teether.

Is he really drooly? Are his thumbs/fingers/hands/paci constantly in his mouth?
