3rd Trimester

if you have pre-e

Ok at my last appt my dr said she was concerned I "might" have pre-e.  I've had high BP the last few appts and protein in my urine. Nothing to jump over, but something to watch.

She said to watch out for a few different symptoms.  In the last week I've had all of them but one.  Nothing severe, just noticed cuz she told me to pay attention.

I've had: swelling, headaches, pain in my right side of my belly.

So I'll be calling the dr tomorrow, but if I have some of these things (though none is severe or exructiating) should I be worried? I guess I don't know how this works.

Married on 3.20.2004. It took 30 month, 2 failed adoptions and IVF for our first miracle. We have had 9 foster kids since he was born and started the domestic adoption process when he was 10 month old, we had 4 failed matches in that time. After our daughter was born we brought her home and spent 2 weeks fearing we might lose her because of complications that came up. But Praise God all went through and she is ours forever! Re: if you have pre-e

  • You are doing the very best thing possible by being sure to call your doctor. Pre-e can be dangerous if not caught/monitored. But you are taking the necessary precautions and being aware, so I don't think you should worry. I would say that worst case would be that you will just have to be monitored.

Best of luck to you, and try not to worry! :)

  • Not to worry you, but my friend has pre-e and I messaged her the other day because I was concerned about it. She said this in her response:

Some of the warning signs are bad headache, high blood pressure, seeing spots or stars, dizzines, protein in the urine and massive swelling.

I am not sure what happened in her 1rst pregnancy, but due to her per-e, they will be delivering this baby at 35 weeks because of it.

I wish you the best! Keep us posted!

  • How have your labs been?? If they arent drawing labs on you weekly, I would be worried. I have PIHD and I am on bedrest - and my BP has been about what yours has been - and I go to the clinic once a week and have my labs drawn and levels checked.

  • Have you don'e a 24 hour urine collection?  That will probably be next on the list.  If you have it, there are several things that could happen.  If it's relatively mild, they will probably put you on bedrest.  Mine was prety severe when I had the twins.  They put me  in the hospital at 34 weeks 5 days.  I had a c/s at 36 weeks (because one of the boys was breech).  Good luck with everything and keep us posted.
  • I was in the L&D unit yesterday for 8 hours because of a severe headache and sky high blood pressure.  They preliminarly thought they were going to take the baby (I am 38 weeks).  My b/p went down but my headache remained.  However, my Dr. sent me home with a list of things to watch for with pre-e.  It's nothing to shrug off and "just wait to call" with.  Don't mean to scare anyone or sound like a know-it-all.  As a few pp said - pre-e is nothing to play around with.

Scheduled c-section is for 10/28...next Tuesday!  Yay!!
