Raspberry leaf tea?

I hear this type of tea is known to facilitate induction of labor. Where can I find this? Will Raspberry Zinger Tea from Celestial Seasonings work?

Re: Raspberry leaf tea?

  • I just bought raspberry zinger tonight! I wasn't really sure either since it wasn't specifically called "raspberry leaf tea" but it was the only viable option at the store I was at so I went for it. Who knows if it'll work, but it's worth a shot! It isn't too bad either!

  • It is actually Raspberry Leaf Tea and you can find it at a whole foods store, although the grocery stores in my area do carry it.

I drank it when I was pregnant with my first son and I still delivered at 41 weeks.  It didn't work for me, but I hope you have more luck.

  • Nope, Rasberry leaf tea is different.

As well, it isn't really used to try to induce, but more to tone the uterus - so once your contractions start, they are apparently more effective.  That said, used it with DS and I still had 24 hours of labour!  Trying again this time though, I figure it isn't going to hurt any.

Lol - sure, consider the race on.  Although I must admit that I might cry if you win!  But I promise to be happy for you as well.

  • What PP said: it needs to be raspberry leaf tea, not flavored. I got mine from the organic section at DH's grocery store and I brewed it as iced tea and did about a 10 oz glass a day.

And of course I'll never really know, but I had an 8 hr labor and I think the tea and EPO insertions helped tremendously!

  • I take Red Raspberry Leaf Tea suppliments. You can get it at your local health food store, or I think some grocery stores carry it too. I just take two pills a day because personally, I think tea is nasty!

I am right there with you!!!! I have two older sisters whom collectively have had a less than 40 hours of labor with their 5 kids. I wonder if this tea would help speed up what already seems to be a speedy vagina family! Yes, I said speedy vagina... Where in the world did that come from!

To my racing buddy! I never win at anything except Yahtzee!! It is the game of chance!!! But so is this... BRING IT!

  • It's a crock...

I was told the same thing, went to 4 different stores and have drank 2-3 glasses every night for the past week.... nothing....

  • I take it in a supplement pill form that I got at the health food store in town.

you are supposed to drink it throughout your pregnancy not just a week or 2 to get the benefits

  • IF you want to speed things up, my doctor recommended castor oil...
    1 spoonful in your OJ...
but be careful, because it will mess up your digestive system for that day...

There are also risks to trying this, so I would advise anyone considering to do that to do their research!!!!

  • Just seconding some previous posters.  You need red raspberry LEAF not raspberry flavored tea.  Look for some of the herbal pregnancy blends at health food stores or whole foods.  YOu can get it in bags at the store or in bulk online which is cheaper.  My midwife recommended drinking 2 cups a day starting around 32 weeks and then 4 cups at 36.  I do think you need to drink it over time to see the effects.  I've been guzzling it like crazy lately (39 wks 5 days).  I make big batches and keep it in the fridge as iced tea.  I think it's tasty, but I like unsweetened herbal tea.
  • I use this kind  https://www.earthmamaangelbaby.com/pregnancy/third-trimester-tea.html  I got it at a local health food store.  I have also seen Yogi Teas rrl tea in the organic-y section at the regular grocery store and drug store.  You can also order them online if you can't find locally.  https://www.yogiproducts.com/products/category/womans-tea/

Also, the pill form of rrl is supposed to be just as effective if you don't like the taste of the tea, or just can't manage to down 4 glasses a day.

It's not meant to make you go into labor, it just tones your uterus so that when you do go into labor, your contractions are more effective.

I'm taking mother's cordial as well! Pretty sure it's helping, because MW swept my membranes yesterday and said she could stretch me to 4-5 cms!!!
