We currently have a 3 bedroom and I'm trying to figure out how we will manage when the new baby gets here, much less sleeping accommodations and noise control. DS has his room and the 3rd room is a combo playroom/DH office. When DS was a newborn, I basically slept on the couch in the living room and he slept in a bassinet next to me so I could get up and feed him every 2 hours so DH could sleep since he works, then DS moved to sleeping in his swing until about 7 months. Looking back, I recall him crying pretty loudly while I was preparing a bottle many times in the middle of the night and I just am worried how this will wake up DS1?
I'm thinking we're probably going to need another diaper changing station in our bedroom to handle night time changes and probably just have DH loose a little sleep by having the new baby in our room so DS1 doesn't hear everything?
Re: If you have a smaller house...
Get sound machines.
We have two bedrooms and an office. We chose to keep our office and move DD from our bedroom to a shared room with DS. I started putting her down at night in their shared room at 3.5 months old. She was STTN, but since the switch she wakes once most nights. I put DS to bed first with a small, loud fan. Once he's asleep I put DD to bed. When she wakes in the middle of the night I can pick her up and bring her to my room without DS noticing. Prior to room sharing DS would wake up if you so much as touched his bedroom door. Even he was able to adapt to the crying.

When DD was born, we lived in an 1100sf apartment with an up and down stairs. Upstairs were the 2 bedrooms, bathroom, and kitchen, and downstairs was the family room, and another bathroom.
DD slept in our room in her bassinet for the first 6 months, and when she would wake up overnight, I would bring her downstairs to get her diaper changed and eat. DS had a sound machine in his room, and never got disturbed by her.
Could you put another changing station in the living room area? Good luck!
