Pre-School and Daycare

Your PSer's first day!

I know a lot of our kiddos were starting school this week...how did your preschooler's first day go?

DS did really great. He went in with no problem, used the potty at school with no accidents, and said he had fun and wanted to go back next week. He was crying a little when I went to pick him up, but the teacher said it was more a domino-effect cry (another child fell down and then a few started crying together).

Re: Your PSer's first day!

  • My DD started Tuesday and is loving it, despite three solidly rainy days in a row (she was looking forward to playing outside, but it looks like it won't be dry enough until next week).  No crying from her that I know of- in fact, she just kind of shrugged us off to go play on the first day and it was just DH and I who got misty eyed.  I'm starting to realize, though, that three hours of school each day isn't nearly as long as I thought it would be to get my own projects done!

  • DD started all-day every-day yesterday because we'd assumed I'd be able to find a job (haha).  She did great.  Their regular drop-off procedure was in effect right away so I didn't get out of the car- just pulled up and they came and got her.  That was a little weird for both of us, but she's so independent and easy-going it wasn't a problem.  She had a great day- no accidents, no tears, she told me all about what she did yesterday.  She didn't eat, but hopefully that'll change.  Her teacher said she ran out of steam by pick-up at 3pm.  I have a hunch she snuck off into the book loft and fell asleep :)  It's just what it sounds- they kids climb the ladder to go have a quiet solo time.  I asked if she fell asleep and she just giggled!  She said she didn't want to go back today, but I think she was being manipulative and trying to see what I would say in response.

  • Her first day is next monday, sooo late she is soo ready. But, today was the meet and greet with other parents, the teachers etc. She was very excited to go, and was totally at ease in the room talking to the other kids. It helps that there were several that were in her twos class last year.

  • DS started half day preschool last week and is loving it! Not a single tear and he is always bouncing up and down excitedly when he gets to school. He has been bringing home his cooking "projects" and telling me stories about the play area and working with colors. He is really worn out by the time I pick him up, and napping 2-3 hrs in the afternoon again. At this stage of pregnancy, I'm loving our afternoon naps together!

  • Things went great for my girls their first week. They only go 2 mornings a week for 3 hours a day, but I think this a perfect transition for them since they have been at home with me for so long. Next year they go 5 mornings a week.

No tears from them and talking about school all the time.

It was Gabe's second year, but, first year full days. He did great- waltzed right in like summer break never happened, ate every single bit of his lunch and was positively PO'd that he had to leave at P/U time.

Unfortunately, exactly one week later- he's home sick. And so am I. Anyone know where to purchase a kid sized germ-proof bubble? I am so not ready for another year of this- it was supposed to be better the second year! :-p

If you find the bubble, let my know!  DD was throwing up after school yesterday.  I hope that our luck will change, but I doubt it.

Despite her current illness, she had an awesome first week!  No issues at drop off and she was excited to see me when I picked her up.  I am hoping she feels herself by her next school day, which is Tuesday.

  • This is our 2nd year in pre-k but it was just as nice Smile  Harmon loves school.  Like others I wish we could find that bubble.  Here was Harmon this year and last year.  He is growing so much!

  • My guys started their second year of preschool today.  It went great!  No tears, no hesitation.  The teacher said they came in and did the routine - like they'd never left for summer.

Much better than last year when N. fell on his way in and smacked his forehead on the side walk.  I left him, still crying, sitting in an aid's lap with an ice pack on his head.  We had no where to go but up after that.  =)
