Update to my post about the curriculum

I did get a weekly report of what they are doing this week and looks about on par with what I'd expect.

DD also told me to keep my arms at my sides and keep my hands to myself when I was trying to wrangle her into brushing her teeth this morning - so I guess they are teaching classroom rules/expectations.  I feel better now.

  • DD tells me to keep my hands to myself all the time. She also tells me to use my "listening ears." It's especially funny because she speaks to me in Spanish most of the time, but says these phrases in English, exactly as she learned them at school.

I'm glad you're feeling better about things. It's hard to not know what's reasonable to expect or not.

  • I asked DD what she did at school today.  She said "I looked with my eyes."  I said "At what?"  She said "I don't know what I was looking at."  lol

  • Good to hear! I asked DS what their lesson was today, and he said "Miss B says when it's time to stop talking". Lol, he is quite the chatterbox, so I can definitely see him needing to be wrangled in for lesson time.

  • Today they apparently talked about whether things were same/different and pretend/real, but DD got the concepts confused and kept asking me if things were the same or pretend.  LOL

Interestingly, DH hates the emphasis on distinguishing between "pretend" and "real." When DD says something is "pretend" food, for example, he corrects her and says, no, it's not people food and you can't eat it, but the object you're holding is very real.

I kind of get what he is saying, but I don't get involved.
