Can't stop crying

DH finally put our dog on craigslist last night (because of Gage's allergies) and tonight we met the NICEST family and decided they'd be the perfect home for him.  DH is following them back to their house right now (they only live 15 minutes away) to take him to their house.  He's 6 years old and we've had him since he was a puppy.  I feel like he's going to be so confused and sad.  I miss him already and I can't stop crying.

I would be a wreck if I had to give up one of our dogs. At least you know he is going to a good home. Do you think they will send you updates once in a while, just so you know he is happy?

Yes, she said she would.  They were the perfect family for him!  2 1/2 acres with little farm, 2 kids (3 & 7), both of them had shelties growing up and have been looking for one for months.  They were soooo nice and their kids were very well behaved.  I'm sure he's going to love it there!

She started crying when I started crying and said she would email us updates and pictures.

My heart's breaking for you!  I'm Zoe's mom as much as Nathan's mom, but he does outrank her.  I'm glad you found a good home. I hope he outgrows the allergies so you can have a dog again.

oh i'm so sorry - it's making me cry just to read this! i would die if we had to give up one of our pets - they are my babies.

so great that you were able to find such a nice, perfect family and also that she was so understanding and happy to send you updates.

i hope that thoughts of him getting lots of love from the new folks & playing on their farm will bring you a little bit of comfort through your tears...?

Oh, that is sad, that must be really hard for you.  I always worry what we'll do if something like that comes up with our two cats and Mikayla, we love our furballs so much.  I'm glad you found him a good home, good for you that you didn't just leave him at the pound or something.

My eyes welled up just reading your post.

You're doing what's best for your little guy AND your puppy.  It's not an easy decision, but you know it was the best decision for your family.  I just wish that made it easier.
