Chinese herbals - side effects?

Anyone out there taking any Chinese herbs for fertility?  My acupuncturist has me taking "Women's Precious" which is apparently a commonly subscribed supplement for fertility.  The first week on it I felt GREAT, almost euphoric.  Then suddenly I started to feel like I had out-of-control PMS all the time...crabby, short, teary, no emotional tolerance, and even some heart palpitations.  I've been like this for the past month or so.  I've also noticed a difference in my charting, my temperatures are less steady.

It might not be the herbs at all, but I have gone off them for now to see if the symptoms subside, and to save my sanity and my marriage :).  Curious to hear any thoughts or similar experiences, there is no info at all on the internet on potential side effects.

By the way, my acupuncturist's goal was to "warm" me up, I have "deficient qi/chi" (however you say it).   Still need to learn more about what this means.

Re: Chinese herbals - side effects?

  • The book called The Infertility Cure by Randine Lewis is a really great read. Explains a lot and would answer some of your questions if you're going the acupuncture and chimese berb route. I got mine on amazon.
