I'm sure this has been asked a million times so I apologize. I was set on getting the side by side and someone told me they don't fit through doorways like if you're at the mall. Is this true? What do you have that works the best?
I have the City Mini Double (side by side) and it fits through standard doorways just fine. I would have problems fitting through aisles within stores, but I would have problems maneuvering a tandem in those small spaces too.
I like it - we use it daily, and my kids are very comfortable - though now they both steal each other's foods/snacks/toys since they are sitting next to each other.
But, then again, we used a tandem at my mom's house last weekend - and it was hard to steer, and my DS2 just turned around (sitting in front) and stared at DD1 the whole time, and she kicked the back of his chair. LOL.
We have a Bumbleride Indie Twin and love it! At first I was worried too, but I have never had a problem fitting through doorways. We take it everywhere with us. The only problem I have ever had was maneuvering it through Gymboree - the rounders were too close together, but I still managed to make it work.
Double City Mini! It is great and I have not had any problem getting through doors or aisles (or at least no more problems than with a single stroller).
We have the combi double umbrella, and LOVE it. Its the lightest stroller for the price point. The only problem with a side by side is that both children can reach out opposite sides, lol. But they prefer the side by side to the tandem strollers, because they like to hold hands and look at each other.
We fit through doors fine.

As a random note, Gymboree is so strangely NOT stroller friendly.
Hahah, this exactly. I never could get my single through there. We also have a city mini double and love it. I tested out the tandem strollers and found them very hard to steer. I also imagined both kids fighting over who got to sit in front. We've been pleased with our side by side. We have a very old home that does not have standard size doorways. I was shocked I was able to get it through our house.
