I'm not bragplaining, or at least I'm trying not to. I've always had weight issues and for the first tri and into my second, I was happy that I wasn't putting on any weight. However, now I'm at 21.5 weeks and still no gain. In fact, I've lost 2 pounds over the past 2 weeks.
I'm 5'7 and am a bigger built girl (probably about a size 12?). My stomach is pooching a little bit but not really.
I'm convinced it's because I gained so much in the 6 months pre-ivf due to injectibles and other fertility drugs. Maybe my body is shedding some of that and at the same time putting on pregnancy weight? I don't know. But now I'm getting a bit concerned, bc all I want is for baby to grow and be healthy.
Just thought I'd see what others have/are experiencing. Heavier/bigger set ladies - did you have minimal gain and everything is ok? What have your OBs told you?
TIA

Re: At what point do you get concerned about weight gain?

I was also a size 12/14, and through the past 2 years put on 15 pounds due to all of the medications and crap.
I haven't gained a single pound yet either, and the OB didn't seem concerned when I saw him 2 weeks ago. I won't see him for another 2 weeks, so I'm not sure what his take will be. I was told as long as the baby is growing healthy and I'm eating, that's all that matters.
I have no bump either... just a poofy flab.
Believe me it's not for lack of eating: I ate my way through our County Fair (6 nights worth). I'm attributing it to the increase of activity I've been doing.
I hope you get to see your OB in the next few weeks, and he can put your mind at ease.

~~PAIF/SAIF Always Welcome~~
I was definitely over my ideal weight (about 15lbs) when I got pregnant, mainly as a result of all the IF meds, yuck!
I do have a very visible bump, but according to the scales have only gained about 2lbs. My Mom told me she thought I'd lost weight, but I'm convinced its losing all the bloat from the IF meds.
Like you, I've also increased my exercise, so I think this might be a factor.
At my last appointment (24 weeks), I mentioned this to my midwife, and she didn't seem concerned. She measured the baby (or at least, my bump) and said that was measuring above average. She said that she'd do measurements at each appointment from now on - so maybe see if your OB does this at your next appointment.
I'm going with the attitude that as long as I am eating lots of healthy, regular meals and snacks, and my midwife is aware of my weight, then all is ok!

It's a BOY!!!
I'm still about 15 lbs down from my prepregnancy weight and as of this morning, lost the two pounds I had put back on. My OB said he will remain unconcerned about the lack of weight gain as long as the baby is doing well and I'm eating well - and both of those things are happening, so I'm trying not to stress about it.
He also said it is typically a better problem to have issues putting on weight versus packing on a bunch of weight too early, so I definitely take comfort in that!
April 2011: Metformin 1500mg + Clomid 100mg + Ovidrel + Prometrium = BFP!

I am very overweight so my OB said it was okay not to gain the typical 30-ish pounds. I didn't start gaining anything until sometime around 22-ish weeks maybe. As of now at nearly 33 weeks I'm up 10 pounds. I do worry now that LO is measuring small that maybe I should have gained more, but my OB said that my nutrition is great and it's not like I've been dieting or starving myself... I eat until I'm full! And not even all super healthy food... with as hot as it's been this summer I've had my share of ice cream, etc! lol
It's just one of those things where it's so different person-to-person. If your OB isn't concerned, and is still okay with you doing those exercises (that would concern me more... can't imagine kickboxing with this belly!), then I'd be fine with that.
My SIL is due in 7 weeks and was a size 12/14 pre-pregnancy and she's only gained 9 lbs and her doctor isn't worried at all. I think as long as the baby continues to grow and you feel good, they are okay since we have some to spare. Me personally on the other hand, I'm getting scared that now I'm finally gaining weight that I'm gaining way too much! I was a size 14/16 before and I didn't want to gain anymore than 20, but now I'm getting scared that I'm going to blow that out of the water. haha, we're never happy, are we?
