Zicam while pregnant?

I'm sure I can call my doctor and ask but they are closed right now.

My husband just said that his coworkers are starting to come to work sick and he's starting his zicam so that he doesn't get a cold, but I'm wondering if it's okay to take while pregnant.

AND - before anyone comments with their negative reaction to zicam or a negative reaction that they have heard, thank you but I do not have a negative reaction.  And the Zicam that we use are the dissolving tablets.   :)

Re: Zicam while pregnant?

  • I wouldn't take it.  This is whats on my approved medicine list from my doc....

Robitussin (plain) PE, saline nasal spray, Sudafed, Tylenol Cold/Sinus/Allergy

  • This is a good question.

I also thought Zicam would be ok because I thought it was mostly a Vitamin C drop, but it's not ok to take while preggers. About a week ago I thought I was feeling the beginnings of a cold and I called my doctor's office to ask if I could take it - the doctor said NO. She recommended I load up on extra Vitamin C by drinking orange juice if I wanted.

    Hope this helps.
