I've never had clothes from gymboree for LO - either new or hand-me-down. Just stopped in to browse and their sizes are really broad, 6-12mos, 12-18, 18-24. 12-18 seems too small for LO (or might be after one washing) but 18-24 is huge!
Anyone shop there? Do their clothes shrink significantly? Specifically, the boys' cotton tees? They had a couple of cute ones and I have coupons. Would hate to get the 12-18 and have it shrink too much, or the 18-24 and have it not shrink at all.
Re: Gymboree sizes??
They don't shrink but they do run big.
It's been a while since I have shopped there though- its gotten to cutesy for my older kids : (
I think they run huge on DD. For her, the 12-18 mos is 22-28 lbs. Granted, she is just 22 lbs at 16 mos, but they literally fall right off of her, but the 6-12 clothes are too baby-ish in style (ex: footed things etc)....I have an entire summer wardrobe that still deosn't fit her. Same with Janie and Jack....
I like the Carter's sizing better, they are smaller weight ranges. (20-24 lbs etc)
I love their clothes! DS they ran pretty true to age (he was in the 75% height percentile and a pretty thin) until 3T, then they got too big for him for a while. I do have to get adjustable waist pants.
For DD they still run pretty true, she's pretty average sized and she's wearing 6-12 month now at 12 months. The clothes don't really shrink must (esp. not compared to Carter's).
This is why I buy a lot of Gymboree. I always wait til I have coupons and shop the two semiannual sales (1 after Christmas and 1 around 4th of July). I think Gymboree fits DD really well. She does go through stages when she is kind of between sizes, but they don't last long. Right now DD is between 18 month and 24 month in Carters. She wears 2T/24 month in Oshkosh/Old Navy. She wore Gymboree 18-24 month for most of the summer. Now I am starting to put her in the 2T stuff for fall.
If I were you I would buy the bigger size. They really do last and it would be a shame if he grew out of them quickly.
EXACTLY
!!!!!! DS is tall and skinny. He's about 23 lbs and maybe 33-34" and wears their 12-18 comfortably. He's been in the size since Feb/March. If he's in rompers, he's in 18-24. He has some fall ones that just seem so big. He's still in his 12-18 month sleepers though but it looks like he's going to 18-24 months soon. In Carter's he's in 24 months and the pants typically fall off his butt. I don't know what it is about his legs (he's proportionate but they are the only pants that he's not walking on in 12-18 months). He's still able to wear his spring outfits now. In fact right now he's wearing a Carter's 24M onesie and 12-18 M Gymboree jeans.
I don't find that they shrink either. I just scored a deal at the outlet on Sunday and got 14 shirts and 8 shorts for next summer in a 2T for $100. I do get an instant 5% discount since I have the Gymboree credit card and I had $5 in gymboree rewards. All of his clothing from 12 months on is Gymboree, he had about 10 outfits prior in smaller sizes. I just find that they wear better on him and he gets longevity with them.
I once had a picture until the trolls showed up.
