One of my very good friends was in an accident this morning on her way to work. She was 33 weeks, her abdomen took the brunt of the impact and cause a placental abruption. She delivered by emergency c-section, and it?s a baby girl. They still have her under general anesthesia, and she is doing well. From what I gather the baby was at first not doing well, but is stable now.
The driver who hit her died.
Please, we need all the thoughts and prayers possible. I just can't imagine.
Baby is not doing well, she is having blood transfusions, and as of now the outlook is still unclear. And I spoke to my SIL who is a nurse at the hospital, my firend is not doing as well as we were told early. Her BP is low and her HR is high. My SIL says something isn't right, but they just don't know what yet.
She is at the best place she can be right now though. Its a top trauma center for our area. Please keep the T&Ps coming!

T & P for them both!
Do they know if the issues the baby is having is because of the trauma from the accident or is it because of lung function, underdevelopment etc, or I guess both? I would feel better knowing the baby wasn't too hurt in the accident and that she just needs to spend some time in the NICU and catch up. Poor sweethear and my heart aches for your friend, how terrible and how sudden...
I was wondering this too. 33 weeks is early, but that is usually an age that some time in the NICU can do miracles for. Still sending prayers.
