We make the trip to see mine and DH's parents about once a month. It's a 2-2 1/2 hour drive. Charlotte used to sleep the whole time, but the past two trips she has woken up about an hour in and starts fussing which then turns into a pitiful scream until she finally tires herself out and goes back to sleep. The crying isn't b/c she is dirty or hungry - my guess is she is just bored or wants to be held. I try to console her with a paci but it only works about 15-30 seconds at a time. I know it's ok for her to cry sometimes, but it breaks my heart that I can't console her.
Anyone else dealing with this? Any tricks you can spare?
Re: Car seat troubles
My LO now hates the car. For long trips one of us has to sit in the back with him and entertain him. We play with toys, sophie, and play peek a boo. He's usually perfectly happy as long as we're oggling him.
I'm sooo hoping this phase ends soon. I miss the days where he was asleep as soon as we got out of the driveway.
