Puppy is home, I am exhausted!

I posted a couple days ago about a puppy that we are taking because my DH's sister-in-law's sister is in the hospital for the last three months of her pregnancy and her husband and kids aren't taking care of it.

Well we went and picked her up yesterday. I was really annoyed because we went to pick her up from my BIL's house and all five of the kids that she has been living with were there and they were all crying like crazy when we left with her. I felt like Cruella Deville stealing the puppy. I hear they eventually calmed down though.

She is a super sweet 5 month old boxer puppy. I was nervous about introducing her to my big dog Wallace because of the way he has reacted to other puppies before. So far everything is going well though. They played for a long time yesterday and the only problems were when my DH was dumb and tried to eat in front of them, luckily I was there and grabbed Wallace while DH went into another room. House training her is going to be a challenge because they were letting her go where ever she wanted at her last house.

I forgot how exhausting having a puppy in the house was. We were up and down all night last night letting her out. But I think it will all work out and she will be a great addition to the family. I will try and get pictures later, but the little bugger is fast and almost never sits still.

Re: Puppy is home, I am exhausted!

  • Glad things are going good so far. Sorry they let the kids be all upset, but if they weren't take care of the dog then this is what is best.

How to you not even let the dog out?!?! That's crazy. I hope she gets the hang of it, maybe seeing the other dogs will help.

  • Sorry the kids were upset.  You know you having the puppy is best for everyone, though.

I'm glad things are going well with the new puppy.  Good luck with potty training!  I hope it goes better than you expect!

  • How awful!  I'm glad puppy has found a better home with you and hope it will all work out so he can be a part of your family forever.  Good luck with the training, I can't imagine how frustrating that must be and how confusing for such a young pup with no rules.  Can't wait to see pics!!
