Do any of you have an open house day for preschool?
DD's first official day is Monday Sept 12th, but this friday (9th) there is an open house (2 hrs). She has been to the school before, had the teachers, and I a good majority of the students are from her last year's class. The paperwork said it is to meet the teachers and get acquainted with the classroom. I was planning on going even though it is pretty much all the same. Anyone not going, or anything I should know? Not sure how long I should plan on staying or anything.
Re: Open house day
We had two. One was last spring, and it was geared more toward recruiting the students and showing off the program. The kids got to check out the classroom and meet the teacher, but in all honesty, it was really geared toward the parents.
Then about a week and a half after school started they had another one. They had the first PTO meeting of the year during which they served dinner, and then the classrooms were open and teachers were available. The kids got to show off the things they'd been doing, and the parents got to catch up with the teacher to see how the adjustment was going.
I'm glad we did both. It was very comforting to see it both times for both purposes, and DS loved going and showing off his classroom. This is his first year, so I think it was especially important. However, I think I'd still go even if it wasn't his first year b/c there will still be some changes over the summer and maybe even some anxiety about going back to school. A little visit with mom there might make the transition BACK to school a little easier/smoother.
