My sister is doing well--no more contractions! But she is going to be on bed rest for the next 2 weeks and possibly longer.
I am putting together a care package to send to her and I wanted to get some ideas from you all...especially those of you who have been on bed rest before!
here is what I am thinking so far:
-several magazines like People and Us Weekly
-gift card to Barnes and Noble that she can use to download stuff for her Nook
-crossword puzzle book
-assorted candy/snacks
-herbal tea bags/pretty mug
What else?
Re: care package ideas for bed rest?
lotion
a DVD of a movie she likes
That's so nice of you and that's great news that the contractions have stopped. The only other thought I had was a water bottle with a flip-top straw like this. When I was in the hospital recovering from my c-section, having a water bottle with a straw was a huge help because when you are laying or sitting in bed, you can easily drink from it without spilling.
A season or two of a show on DVD. I may have watched most of the seasons of Greek while I was on bedrest
. I felt so miserable it was often hard to focus in order to read or anything (I hope you sister feels much better).
Is she on strict or modified bedrest? I know how much it sucks and hope she doesn't have to be on it for long!!!
Well after being on bedrest for almost 3 mos with DS I can tell you the thing you want the most is CONTACT with REAL LIVE PEOPLE!!!! I was stir crazy...so it was nice when people came to visit!!! So if you can't visit try Skype...the phone is ok....but you really miss really interacting with people on a daily basis.
If she doesn't already have Netflix..maybe a short term subscription. If she going to be on bedrest for awhile maybe a lap pad to put a laptop on so it doesn't burn her legs (if she is stuck in bed). Also a tray is nice to have to hold drinks or food in bed. Sending dinners is also good as her husband is probably overwhelmed (mine still had to take care of DD in addition to me)!!
If she's on strict bedrest and can't get up often for showers and things....dry shampoo, little mirror that she can use for makeup in bed (yes, you get bored and do anything to entertain yourself), cute pj's. Maybe gift card for Itunes - for when she gets tired of tv/movies.
