When I took A to his 4 month appointment (17 lbs, 26.5 inches, BTW) his ped noticed that his circumcision was healing back and almost needed to be redone. I had no idea. I've never had a boy and I can't remember anyone talking to me about pulling back the area.
I felt so bad when she had to pull at it and it was all red and raw.
Re: RE-circumsized?
My nephew had to have it redone. But first they tried to 'pull it back' in the office. The skin had already fused, so pretty much they ripped opened a healing wound. OUch!!! And it didn't work, he had to be re-circumsized.
He did great and his penis looks great now! Ummm.....
Ahahaha! Seriously, it is the most awkward thing now. I feel like I'm digging around in his penis and he's just kicking and giggling while I do it.

The same situation happened w SIL's son. However, no one mentioned this in the hospital when our LO had his circumcision done. SIL keeps telling us we have to "pull it back", but Dr. says he looks fine.
I think it's outrageous that nobody ever tells us (mothers of baby boys) that the skin must be pulled back. Luckily, I read it on here, so I've been pulling it back myself.
Upon researching it online, I found that "medically speaking," when the baby boy gets erections, it stretches the skin out, and that's why it does not need to be pulled back manually. Try telling that to those poor babies who had to have a second circumcision!
Along those lines - DH's cousin's baby boy was just recircumsized this past week. It didn't phase the baby (he's actually almost a year old now), but I think mama felt badly..
Boy #2, born 8/27/2014
Currently... Pregnant with mo/di BOY TWINS! Due September 15. Latest induction will be 37w.
You made me crack up, because although LO's weewee seems fine, I've noticed some red (almost rash-like) at the base of it so I've been getting really close to look at it, clean it, apply cream etc, and I feel weird and he's all giggles! lol
