Are you giving your boys water?

Not at this point.  I'll probably ask about it at his 6 month appt next month.  Are you?  Did you take the Starting Solids class at Evergreen?  I didnt but I've heard they talk about the water thing in there.  I'm thinking I'll start giving him a little sippy cup with a little water at 6 months.

No I didn't even know they had such a class.  On the sheet about solids that the dr gave us at the 4 month appt it mentioned it was ok to give them water - which I've done because MIL and DH have seemingly turned him into a snacker so I was trying to break that habit over the weekend.  Now I'm going to have to look into that class.

I think the next class is in Nov sometime.  I've heard water is okay at this point, but not a whole bunch.  He does get some water everyday because his reflux meds are dissolved in water, and then given to him through a syringe that way.  Plus all that formula he's drinking is water!    Are you still using the preemie formula?

Lennon got 1 ounce of water twice on Saturday. 

He's now moved from the preemie formula to regular formula.  We are using the smililac Advance and he seems to be doing ok with it. 

How much formula is Matthew drinking each time?

He is drinking anywhere from 6-8 oz at each feeding, usually 5 bottles a day.  He gets about 3-4 oz of prune juice in a few of his bottles as well (he was having constipation issues from the rice starch in his formula - Enfamil AR).  His reflux is doing MUCH better, but I still feel like he's not eating enough.  I think his weight is kinda low for his age (he's 16 lbs even, but 27 in long!).

No not yet. It really never occured to me to give him water. My Mom asked me about giving him water when we got home from the hospital and I told her that now you don't give little babies water. I had heard of waiting till they  are older and eating solid foods.

Chirsta  you got a solids hand out?  We didn't get anything but shots hand outs and our 4 month appt.  I printed out the making stage 1 baby food from Wholesome babyfood.com  We have been doing oatmeal cereal for a few days now. I think he is getting the hang of it but it is a messy process.

I did get a solids handout which is really interesting.  My scanner doesn't work yet but if you want I could fax you a copy tomorrow.
