C-sections

Question for those that had a tubal...

I know cost is going to be different for everyone, but just wondering in general, did it add a ton of cost to the entire thing? I need to call my insurance company and ask, but it gets complicated because I'm double covered (my own insurance and also my husband's). I ended up paying about $1,600 out of pocket for having my son (c-section, 5 day stay), and I'm just trying to figure out if it's comparable or a lot more? If you had one, how did it compare to the cost of your previous bills?

Re: Question for those that had a tubal...

  • I can't compare bills as I have different insurance coverage this time around, but the only additional billed cost for me was the $186.00 OB charge for the actual procedure.  My insurance covered all of that after my deductible.  Since it didn't add much time to the procedure the OR cost and anesthesia cost were billed the same.

Total this time around we paid roughly $1500 out of pocket for a planned c-section with tubal ligation.

  • As far as I know, it didn't cost anything extra. I don't know if my Dr. just threw it in or what, but when I got the bill, it was not an extra line item on there!
