My prenatal has a stool softener, so I don't have a problem with hard poop. My problem is that actually having to go. I'll ask my doc on Tuesday, but I was just wondering what everyone else is doing. Oh, the glories of being pregnant.
My doc recommended Miralax. I'm happy to say this issue has gotten better on its own in the past few days for me though! Hope you get some relief soon.
I'm just trying to keep my water intake up and eat lots of fiber rich foods (apples, dried fruit, FiberOne bars). Also, a bowl of raisin bran for dessert has been very helpful
My dr said laxatives as a very last resort. Luckily I've been able to avoid them!
Benefiber in coffee, juice or milk every day. Fresh fruit and lots of water.
I just took some FiberOne blueberry muffins out of the oven. They sure smell delicious! 20% daily fiber in each muffin (and who only eats one fresh, warm blueberry muffin?). Hopefully they don't make me gassy as some FiberOne products do. Will update later
I've been trying to stay away from drugs too. I am doing a small glass of prune juice every or every other day and randnom fiber powder added to everything. Unfortunately I worked out the regiment a little too late and found myself in hemra-land for a few days which was not fun. FYI, intervene EARLY.
As soon as I start to have an issue, I take a fiber pill with my PNV at night. Same concept as doing benifiber or Metamucil just in a pill not in a power you dissolve.

After a week of a whole lot of nothing my husband has started giving me metamuscile every morning, and it has helped a lot. I also read to make sure that your pre-natal vitamin has little to no iron.
Re: What are you taking for constipation
Dewey posted an oat bran/prune juice/apple juice concoction on here the other day and I tried it and it totally works!
2c fine-ground oat bran + 2c unsweetened apple juice + 1c prune juice.
I halved the recipe. Mix together, leave in fridge, take 1-2tbsp per day. It sort of solidifies into a paste. Tastes fine. Life saver.
