DD is having a tea party this weekend..need help

So, we are having this little tea party because dd wants to see her friends from pre school. I am doing lady bug cupckakes boxed as favors. We will have little sandwiches that will be butterfly and flower cut outs along with some mini cupcakes and a veggie/fruit platter and chocolates I am making.

I was thinking of having them decorate cookies and makes some tissue paper flowers as games. Does that sound OK? There are only about 7 girls, so it won't be overwhelming. I just want them to have something to do that kind of relates to a tea party.

  • Can the cookies they decorate take place of the mini cupcakes? It will cut down on work for you and sugar intake for them.

  • That sounds nice!

I imagine they'd dress up for a tea party so make sure you have some t shirts to use as smocks during anything too messy.

Other activities -- If you have a plastic tea pot or cup you can play a version of hot potato with it.  They could make paper hats and decorate those.

  • Thanks! Paper hats is a great idea. I was going to look for straw hats at the dollar store, but making them is more fun.
  • The straw hats would be cute if you had some fake flowers, ribbons, etc to decorate them with.
  • If you have (or can pick up) small heart and star shaped cookie cutters, use them to cut cantaloupe and honeydew and make little fruit skewers with strawberries.  I learned that at the American Girl store - they also had a yogurt dip for it, but they didn't care for it.

You have to watch where about the pointy skewers, but it all seems to fit with the theme.
