S/O how do you know if your kid

Has good or poor arches? Is this something pedi would check? Would he complain of pain? I just assumed my kids' feet were fine but maybe I'm clueless?

Re: S/O how do you know if your kid

  • Even though myself and others and my family have poor arches, I really never gave it a second thought.  It's pretty obvious but I never thought about it until my pedi mentioned it at his 4 year check up.  He is super observant and watches and checks out everything though.  So I am not sure if it is routine to check.
  • Mine does check, but I would imagine your kids would complain about sore feet too. I have high arches, and if I have shoes wwith the arch support in the wrong place it is painful!

  • Growing up, I had poor arches (or I still do?).  My shoes all were worn unevenly on the insides of my soles.  So I would look at that, but I have no idea if there is a way to tell before a sign like that shows up.

  • I have high arches and was pretty sure DD2 had high arches so asked the pedi.  The pedi checked and agreed.  I had her check the other girls too, just in case, and she said theirs are a bit high but nothing that needs extra support.

See, I seriously question my doctors sometimes.  I love that my practice has weekend hours (emergency on Sunday) but they would NEVER notice this, they have not looked at my kids feet ever than I know of and certainly not since they have been wearing shoes.  Ugh, one more thing to add to the list.
