Cloth Diapering

hanging CDs outside in the winter

I currently line dry all my pockets, AIOs and inserts as long as the weather permits. Right now, it is fine because the weather is nice (I live in Massachusetts). However, when winter comes this will be nearly impossible. What do you guys do to prevent staining/extra wear and tear if you live somewhere where it will be below freezing for 4 months?

Re: hanging CDs outside in the winter

  • I hang mine on a rack inside when the weather is bad. It does take a lot longer to dry inside, but you can skip the dryer.

    Just plan ahead!

ETA: you can always put stained diapers outside when it's not snowing, or put them in a window to get sunlight, too.

  • When it was snowing I hang them on a rack to dry.  We caught the tail end of winter here.  Buy a drying rack or two and find a window that lets in sunshine (for those stained CDs)  I never used the dryer in winter.  Just know it will take longer to dry and plan ahead on how many you will need that day.

  • On the plus side, it's really dry air here in the winter. I think I'll change my wash routine and wash at night, then hang to dry overnight on racks in the basement. I expect most things will be dry in 10 or 12 hours.
  • I hang inside facing a sunny window.
  • It rarely gets below freezing here, but I line dry inside when it's really cold or just not that sunny out.

I don't care about stains on a day-to-day basis. They'll come out in the spring sun if you can't sun them in winter.
