Two Under 2

Two kids with similar birthdays

So if you TTC your kids, did you try to avoid having them in the same month to avoid similar bdays?

we are TTC#3 and since we most likely missed last time I O'd (Dh left for the rig early) It looks like with his schedule we could conceive at the end of Sept or end of December. I will just let things happen, but if we get pregnant in Sept then I would have the same due date as DD minus one day. It's weird to think they would have their bday's so close, but I know its not my choice. Im just curious how its worked out if your kids bdays are very close or the same.

THANKS!

Re: Two kids with similar birthdays

  • We werent TTC but mine had the exact same due date 1 year apart. There is one day between their birthday's. Since they are both boys and so close, we will have joint parties for as long as we can get away with it. I think it's fine and kinda neat.

  • My little sister and I have just 2 days (plus 4 years!) between our birthdays and my older sister's birthday is just one month later.  I never minded having my sister's birthday two days after mine and I never minded having a joint birthday party with all our cousins/aunts/uncles/etc.  We did always have separate, smaller, family "parties" (just a special dinner and a cake) on our actual birthday so that was nice too.

  • we were TTC and our kids birthdays are about 2 weeks apart. Right now we have seperate parties for them since they are so young  but eventually we'll probably have combined. It didn't factor into our TTC. #3 [if I conceive soonish] will be born in a completely different time of year though!

  • My kids bdays are less than a month apart. I don't think it's going to be a big deal, personally. We'll do joint parties as long as they're ok with it (if they get older and want separate parties especially for milestone bdays that's fine with me) and have a special celebration for just them with cake/a special present on their own personal birthdate.

  • ahhh!! I was hoping this post was saying you were pregnant :)
  • Personally, I would never NOT TTC just to avoid a certain birthday - but that's just me. When we first started TTC no. 2, we got pregnant right away, but lost the baby. DD1 and that baby would have been ~19mos apart. It took a few more months to get pregnant again and now I'm due one week after DD1's second birthday. DD1 was also born on our wedding anniversary, so I'm hoping this baby has the same birthday. I think it'd be neat to have both our girls born on our anniversary :)

  • Since we already have two who share a birthday, and that birthday is just 12 days after Christmas, I would definitely avoid Dec or Jan birthdays for a future LO if I can. If we've been ttc a while and nothing's happening I wouldn't skip the months that would give the Dec or Jan birthdays but I'd prefer to avoid another birthday then.

That said, if I only had one LO so far, and the birthday was not near Christmas, I wouldn't care as much. ;)  My sister's middle two boys are 2 years and 1 day apart and they don't seem to mind at all. (They're 7 and 5.)

haha! Its kinda difficult when DH is away :) I was so bummed because he was gonna leave a day before I O'd (I dont chart but am pretty regular) BUT then he had to leave earlier for an emergency! so there is a chance that I couldve conceived....but thats only if DH has super sperm ;)

next time we have a shot....we'll see!

  • I"ll let you know.  #3 is due 4 days after #1's bday.  Believe me I didn't want it this way either but some things just happen:)  Hoping your DH's super sperm worked this cycle:)

I say if you are ready and really want #3, then it shouldn't matter when their b-days are in relation to each other. You will end up with a wonderful child ;)

  • Eh, I wouldn't worry about it. My boys are 2 days apart (July 25 and July 27). It was really fun this year being able to have a big celebration and being able to celebrate both kids at once. And they both had a blast! GL!

  • my 1 and 2 are two yeas a part and their b-days are 5 days apart....#3's b-day will be about 2 weeks after theirs.   God planned it this way.
  • I would not let close due dates stop me from TTC, especially in your situation where you have limited access to your H's sperm.

  • My boys' birthdays are two and a half weeks apart. We've had two parties in two weeks. Next year we're having a joint party for sure. My next baby will be a spring baby if I have any say.

  • My kids due dates were 2 days shy of each other. They ended up being born 8 days shy of each other, since both came early. We had our first joint party this year, and honestly, it was so much cheaper and less hassle to plan the birthdays together.

  • We did not TTC DD2, and her birthday is 18 days after DD1's.  I don't think I would have planned it that way, but things happen.  This year we are doing a joint birthday party.  We plan to do that as long as we can get away with it, and after that we'll be doing birthday parties two weeks apart, I guess.

  • We're trying to spread out the birthdays, but who knows if it will work that way!  We have a March baby and June baby and we're working for an Aug/Sep baby next.  Unfortunately you can't always time it just right, but in the end I don't think they'll care too much if they have to share a birthday month!

    Good luck TTC!
